School Accreditation and Teacher Certification

Holy Name of Jesus Catholic School is a U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon School of Excellence and a U.S. Department of Education “No Child Left Behind” Blue Ribbon School. The Early Learning Center (beginning at 12 months) through eighth grade is fully accredited by the Florida Catholic Conference, which is recognized by the Department of Education of the State of Florida.

The school is also approved by the Department of Education of the State of Florida. Holy Name of Jesus successfully completed its re-accreditation process in the Spring of 2022 by the Florida Catholic Conference. All elementary classroom teachers hold degrees and are certified by the Florida State Department of Education. Certification for all teachers and accreditation for the school are required by policy of the Office of Schools of the Diocese of Orlando and the Florida Catholic Conference. Teacher certification must be maintained through regular, on-going, in-service education, and professional workshops and conferences.

Curriculum

At Holy Name of Jesus Catholic School, our curriculum aligns with the standards set by the Diocese of Orlando and the State of Florida. Our youngest learners, from Pre-Kindergarten (three and four-year-olds) through Kindergarten, are nurtured in our Early Learning Center. Students in Kindergarten through Fifth Grade enjoy a self-contained classroom environment, while those in Grades Six through Eight transition to a departmentalized structure, allowing them to change classrooms for different subjects.

Our dedicated and qualified staff meet the rigorous standards of the Florida Catholic Conference and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. In addition to core academics, students benefit from regularly scheduled classes in Art, Music, Spanish, Technology, Media, and Physical Education, enriching their educational experience. Our teachers are certified by the State of Florida and engage in ongoing professional development, with recertification required every five years to ensure they remain at the forefront of educational excellence.

Standardized Testing

At Holy Name of Jesus Catholic School, all students in Grades 2 through 8 participate in the TERRA NOVA Standardized tests, a widely recognized assessment used by both public and private schools across the country. These tests offer valuable insights into student achievement, growth, and areas of strength, as well as identifying opportunities for improvement. The results provide our teachers and school with comprehensive diagnostic information, helping us tailor our academic programs to meet the needs of each student. Test scores across the Diocese consistently reflect the excellence of the education our students receive.
